AC Motors
AC induction motors create torque to drive mechanical applications. They consist of a stator and rotor. The stator receives an alternating current and produces a rotating magnetic field. The magnetic field transmits an electric current to the motors rotor, which drives applications. <lt/>p<gt/><lt/>p<gt/> Most AC induction motors are fixed-speed motors, but some can be used with variable frequency drives to adjust motor speeds. AC induction motors also come in single-phase and three-phase forms. Three-phase motors are larger and more rugged. They are most used in industrial drives, while single-phase motors are found in household appliances.
